The PHY selection bit also exists on SoCs without an internal PHY; if it's set to 1 (internal PHY, default value) then the MAC will not make use of any PHY on such SoCs. This problem appears when adapting for H6, which has no real internal PHY (the "internal PHY" on H6 is not on-die, but on a co-packaged AC200 chip, connected via RMII interface at GPIO bank A). Force the PHY selection bit to 0 when the SOC doesn't have an internal PHY, to address the problem of a wrong default value. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
