In the upcoming changes, the ELF_DETAILS macro will be extended with the ".modinfo" section, which will cause an error: >> s390x-linux-ld: .tmp_vmlinux1: warning: allocated section `.modinfo' not in segment >> s390x-linux-ld: .tmp_vmlinux2: warning: allocated section `.modinfo' not in segment >> s390x-linux-ld: vmlinux.unstripped: warning: allocated section `.modinfo' not in segment This happens because the .vmlinux.info use :NONE to override the default segment and tell the linker to not put the section in any segment at all. To avoid this, we need to change the sections order that will be placed in the default segment. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the reStructuredText markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
