The `build_error` crate provides a function `build_error` which will panic at compile-time if executed in const context and, by default, will cause a build error if not executed at compile time and the optimizer does not optimise away the call. The `CONFIG_RUST_BUILD_ASSERT_ALLOW` kernel option allows to relax the default build failure and convert it to a runtime check. If the runtime check fails, `panic!` will be called. Its functionality will be exposed to users as a couple macros in the `kernel` crate in the following patch, thus some documentation here refers to them for simplicity. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
