- The 3 patch series "ida: Remove the ida_simple_xxx() API" from
Christophe Jaillet completes the removal of this legacy IDR API.
- The 9 patch series "panic: introduce panic status function family"
from Jinchao Wang provides a number of cleanups to the panic code and
its various helpers, which were rather ad-hoc and scattered all over the
place.
- The 5 patch series "tools/delaytop: implement real-time keyboard
interaction support" from Fan Yu adds a few nice user-facing usability
changes to the delaytop monitoring tool.
- The 3 patch series "efi: Fix EFI boot with kexec handover (KHO)" from
Evangelos Petrongonas fixes a panic which was happening with the
combination of EFI and KHO.
- The 2 patch series "Squashfs: performance improvement and a sanity
check" from Phillip Lougher teaches squashfs's lseek() about
SEEK_DATA/SEEK_HOLE. A mere 150x speedup was measured for a well-chosen
microbenchmark.
- Plus another 50-odd singleton patches all over the place.

This set is comprised of a couple of small but important fixes and a number of clean-up and
refactoring patches. The fixes correct an EPROM address for the LP8556 and improve memory
allocation safety in the LED backlight driver.
The remainder of the set is made up of refactoring work to the mp3309c driver and a series of
patches to make a number of drivers more self-contained by including their own dependencies.
Improvements & Fixes
- Correct the EPROM start address for the LP8556 to align with the device's datasheet.
- Use devm_kcalloc() in the LED backlight driver for safer array allocation with overflow
protection.
Cleanups & Refactoring
- Drop an unnecessary call to pwm_apply_args() in the mp3309c driver.
- Modernize struct initialization in the mp3309c driver by using a compound literal instead of
memset.
- Make numerous drivers self-contained by including necessary headers directly rather than
relying on transitive includes from the core backlight header.

Pull backlight updates from Lee Jones:
"This set is comprised of a couple of small but important fixes and a
number of clean-up and refactoring patches. The fixes correct an EPROM
address for the LP8556 and improve memory allocation safety in the LED
backlight driver.
The remainder of the set is made up of refactoring work to the mp3309c
driver and a series of patches to make a number of drivers more
self-contained by including their own dependencies.
Improvements & Fixes:
- Correct the EPROM start address for the LP8556 to align with the
device's datasheet.
- Use devm_kcalloc() in the LED backlight driver for safer array
allocation with overflow protection.
Cleanups & Refactoring
- Drop an unnecessary call to pwm_apply_args() in the mp3309c driver.
- Modernize struct initialization in the mp3309c driver by using a
compound literal instead of memset.
- Make numerous drivers self-contained by including necessary headers
directly rather than relying on transitive includes from the core
backlight header"

Commit 1a194e6c8e ("fbcon: fix integer overflow in fbcon_do_set_font")
introduced an out-of-bounds access by storing data and allocation sizes
in the same variable. Restore the old size calculation and use the new
variable 'alloc_size' for the allocation.

Fix integer overflow vulnerabilities in fbcon_do_set_font() where font
size calculations could overflow when handling user-controlled font
parameters.
The vulnerabilities occur when:
1. CALC_FONTSZ(h, pitch, charcount) performs h * pith * charcount
multiplication with user-controlled values that can overflow.
2. FONT_EXTRA_WORDS * sizeof(int) + size addition can also overflow
3. This results in smaller allocations than expected, leading to buffer
overflows during font data copying.
Add explicit overflow checking using check_mul_overflow() and
check_add_overflow() kernel helpers to safety validate all size
calculations before allocation.

Update the fbcon_skip_panic() function to use the panic_in_progress()
helper.
The previous direct access to panic_cpu is less readable and is being
replaced by a dedicated function that more clearly expresses the intent.
This change is part of a series to refactor the kernel's panic handling
logic for better clarity and robustness.

Assigning values to a struct using a compound literal (since C99) also
guarantees that all unspecified struct members are empty-initialized, so
it properly replaces the memset to zero.
The code looks a bit nicer and more idiomatic (though that might be
subjective?). The resulting binary is a bit smaller. On ARCH=arm with
an allnoconfig + minimal changes to enable the mp3309c driver the
difference is 12 bytes.

pwm_apply_args() sole purpose is to initialize all parameters specified
in the device tree for consumers that rely on pwm_config() and
pwm_enable(). The mp3309c backlight driver uses pwm_apply_might_sleep()
which gets passed the full configuration and so doesn't rely on the
default being explicitly applied.

This reverts commit 864f9963ec.
The patch is wrong as it checks vc_origin against vc_screenbuf,
while in text mode it should compare against vga_vram_base.
As such it broke VGA text scrolling, which can be reproduced like this:
(1) boot a kernel that is configured to use text mode VGA-console
(2) type commands: ls -l /usr/bin | less -S
(3) scroll up/down with cursor-down/up keys

This issue triggers when a userspace program does an ioctl
FBIOPUT_CON2FBMAP by passing console number and frame buffer number.
Ideally this maps console to frame buffer and updates the screen if
console is visible.
As part of mapping it has to do resize of console according to frame
buffer info. if this resize fails and returns from vc_do_resize() and
continues further. At this point console and new frame buffer are mapped
and sets display vars. Despite failure still it continue to proceed
updating the screen at later stages where vc_data is related to previous
frame buffer and frame buffer info and display vars are mapped to new
frame buffer and eventully leading to out-of-bounds write in
fast_imageblit(). This bheviour is excepted only when fg_console is
equal to requested console which is a visible console and updates screen
with invalid struct references in fbcon_putcs().

fb_add_videomode() can fail with -ENOMEM when its internal kmalloc() cannot
allocate a struct fb_modelist. If that happens, the modelist stays empty but
the driver continues to register. Add a check for its return value to prevent
poteintial null-ptr-deref, which is similar to the commit 17186f1f90 ("fbdev:
Fix do_register_framebuffer to prevent null-ptr-deref in fb_videomode_to_var").

This patch addresses various coding style issues in `svgalib.c` to improve
readability and better align the code with the Linux kernel's formatting
standards.
The changes primarily consist of:
- Adjusting whitespace around operators and after keywords.
- Standardizing brace placement for control flow statements.
- Removing unnecessary braces on single-statement if/else blocks.
- Deleting extraneous blank lines throughout the file.
These changes are purely stylistic and introduce no functional modifications.

Replace the manual pci_ioremap_wc() call for mapping screen memory with the

This simplifies the driver's resource management by ensuring the memory is
automatically unmapped when the driver detaches from the device.

The kyro framebuffer driver did not request its PCI memory regions,
which could lead to conflicts with other drivers. This change
addresses the task "Request memory regions in all fbdev drivers"
from the file Documentation/gpu/todo.rst.
This is addressed by using the managed device functions pcim_enable_device()
and pcim_request_all_regions(). This simplifies the code by making error
handling and driver removal cleanup automatic for these resources.

Use the newly added of_reserved_mem_region_to_resource() function to
handle "memory-region" properties.
The error handling is a bit different. "memory-region" is optional, so
failed lookup is not an error. But then an error in
of_address_to_resource() is treated as an error. However, that
distinction is not really important. Either the region is available
and usable or it is not. So now, it is just
of_reserved_mem_region_to_resource() which is checked for an error.

The current implementation may lead to buffer overflow when:
1. Unregistration creates NULL gaps in registered_fb[]
2. All array slots become occupied despite num_registered_fb < FB_MAX
3. The registration loop exceeds array bounds
